Machteld Van Geenhoven

Machteld studied the flute with Paul Vanwolleghem at the Conservatoire Royal in Brussels (Belgium) and obtained le Premier Prix in Flute.

She attented Master Classes with Geoffrey Gilbert, Alexa Still and Philippa Davies in the UK.

Her daughter Lieselotte started in 1997 with Suzuki Viola lessons at the age of 4. Machteld became more and more involved in the mother tongue method. In 1999 she started Suzuki Flute Teacher Training with Sarah Hanley, Anke van der Bijl and Marja-Leena Mäkilä.

In 2007 she obtained as the first Belgian Flute Teacher ever the ESA Suzuki Flute Teacher Diplome.

She is teaching a full studio with quite a number of young beginners of whom the youngest are four years old. Over the last 20 years she has taught all the Suzuki Flute books and some of her students have continued to be professional flautists. She teaches the flute at the Music School in Herentals. For the youngsters she has her own private Flute Studio Flautino.

Machteld founded the association Suzuki Fluit Vlaanderen. She is a Board member of Talent Education Suzuki Institute Belgium. She organise many Suzuki Flute workshops in Belgium.

As a performing musician she’s a member of Ensemble Am@dee (Flute and String Trio).
